WHAT'S NEW IN 2009–2010?

English Learner Authorization and Bilingual Authorization (formerly CLAD™ and BCLAD™ Certificates)

Passage of Assembly Bill (AB) 1871 (Chap. 660, Stats. 2008) has several implications for candidates seeking bilingual authorization. One is that individuals will earn an "authorization" as opposed to a "certificate" for both the English Learner Authorization (formerly the Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development™ [CLAD™] Certificate) and the Bilingual Authorization (formerly the Bilingual Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development™ [BCLAD™] Certificate). The English Learner or Bilingual Authorization will be added directly to an individual's valid prerequisite credential(s).

Refer to "English Learner and Bilingual Authorization Requirements" for information about the types of instruction authorized by the English Learner and Bilingual Authorizations.
